We rely strongly on the partnership between parents and the school to provide the optimum learning environment for children. Parents are important partners in the schooling process of their child. It is through the co-operation of parents, students and staff that quality education for all students will be achieved. Effective communication assists parents support their children and their teachers.
Parents provide invaluable assistance throughout the school, whether it be reading in classrooms, covering books, canteen help, assistance on Sports Carnival Days or with other special events, or participating in the P&C and its multitude of sub-committees.
Children love to see their parents involved in their school and the school certainly needs the support of parents.
There are also numerous ways parents can become involved throughout the school.
The Artarmon Public School website is one method of allowing parents to understand the aims of the school, how the school expects to achieve those aims by constant updating of the website.
School policies, activities, notes and forms can be accessed on the website as it continually develops.
Take an active interest in your child’s school activities and encourage leisure reading habits. Read to and with your child regularly throughout their Primary schooling.
Discuss the school rules and codes of behaviour with your child.
Parent Concerns
Parents are encouraged to contact the school regarding any concerns they may have about their child’s schooling. Procedures are in place to assist with the resolution of any concerns.
For classroom or playground assistance or advice, initial contact should be made with the child’s class teacher. If further assistance or clarification is required, an appointment should be made initially with the executive teacher who supervises the grade and then if needed the Principal or Deputy Principal.
Please note that for parents from a non-English speaking background, an interpreter service can be arranged by contacting the ESL teachers.
P & C meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 8.00 p.m. in the school library.
